Choreography: The sequence of steps and movements in dance.
 
These classes focus exclusively on Broadway Style Musical Choreography, not dance fundamentals, therefore dance experience is required. This class is designed for students to learn and develop choreography; students must have knowledge of dance fundamentals. Students will explore show-stopping numbers from a variety of musicals, along with learning and creating choreography for a number of Graham Academy events!

Modern dance is a highly expressive style of dance that challenges the structured dance technique of classical ballet. In recent years, it has included elements not usually associated with dance, such as speech and film. This choreography focused class will combine modern dance with some musical theatre selections, creating unique and new expressions within two often contrasting styles.

This program requires previous dance experience.

Tap is characterized by using the sound of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion - due to this, tap is a frequent companion to the Broadway stage. This class will focus on two different strains of tap dance - rhythm tap (focused on musicality) and Broadway tap (focused on the dance and spectacle). As these skills are built, dancers will learn to perform many Broadway classics, whether old or new!
